Just wondering, what kind of music do you guys listen to? I've got a pretty nice mixture...I'm not a big metal head (just not my thing...if I can't understand the singer, I don't enjoy the song), but I do like some classic rock...and I do like somethings that are considered metal, it's just one of my smaller groups. I don't care much for rap (some of it's okay, most of it...blech).
Mainly I love Evanesence, TaTu (don't laugh, this band helps me write slash fiction.), Linkin Park....and scarily enough, I do love Avril Lavigne's music. I just don't like her much as a person. Oh, and I love Kelly Clarkson.
I think my biggest music file is my "Songs from musicals" folder....things from Avenue Q, Beauty and the Beast, Chicago, Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog, ....all sorts of things, really.

I love The Cranberries, No Doubt (before the split, don't quite like Gwen Stefani's music), Nidji (an Indonesian band), Arash (an Iranian singer), Coldplay, Evanescence, and so much more that I'm too lazy to type out. Currently stuck in my head are Tourniquet (old Evanescence song that is having a renaissance) and Promises (another old Cranberries' song suffering a renaissance)... Promises seems to be the perfect song for my angst!Gwevin fic!

Completely agree on No Doubt...their CDs together were amazing. Gwen Stefani by herself just weirds me out. Tourniquet is a *great* song (one of my friends was obsessed with the line "I lay dying and I'm pouring crimson regret..."). I like the song "Linger" by The Cranberries.

I like a bit of a louder sound. Most of what I listen to is in the modern rock genre (and subgenres of MR). Even there, there's a bit of a range in sound. I like music from Evanescence and Within Temptation to stuff from My Chemical Romance and Megadeth.
Usually whatever I listen to has a lot to do with what I'm writing. I can't write a fight scene to something soft or peppy and I can't right a slower scene to something hard. When it comes down to it, I'll give most music a chance (I've even been known to toss in a few country songs), but I could never get into rap or R&B.

I know how that goes...anytime I write slash, I listen to "Malchik Gay" (even when it's two girls...I'm weird). Music is just inspiring....the weird thing is I can't listen to "Jolene" by Dolly Parton without thinking of a Ben/Kevin/Gwen triangle (come on, the line "your beauty is beyond compare with flaming locks of auburn hair, with ivory skin and eyes of emerald green" seriously sounds like Gwen. So I just keep picturing a very sad Ben who thinks he's losing Kevin to her....)
I like Eminem's more serious raps (Cleaning Out My Closet and Stan especially), but that's pretty much it for the rap genre for me.
As for MCR, I LOVE Ghost of You. I would constantly play that on repeat....

There are a few songs from them that I'll listen to over and over again ("It's not a fashion statement, it's a deathwish", "Demolition Lovers", and a few more).
For the last chapter I have written, I found myself listening to the "Sam's Town" album from The Killers. It's working so far for inspiration, so I'm listening to it again today while writing.

For Eminem, I love When I'm Gone and Mockingbird. Awesome songs.
Violet Hill (Coldplay) is stuck in my head.
Bury me in honor When I'm dead and hit the ground A love back home unfolds
If you love me Won't you let me know?
Paramore's Decode is a pretty awesome song. I also don't mind Linkin Park. I preferred their earlier songs, but as a band, they've really matured, and I like the new songs too, but they aren't like, raw emotion as the earlier ones were.

Linkin Park I still kind of like...the last two songs by them I really *loved* were "Breaking the Habit" and ...I don't remember the name, but where it says "when my time comes, forget the wrong that I've done - help me leave behind some reasons to be missed. And don't forget me, when you're feeling empty keep me in your memory - leave out all the rest..."...oh, wait, it was called "Leave Out All the Rest"...I'm a dork.

That song was awesome. It was in the Twilight soundtrack (absolutely did not like the movie - or the books for that matter, although I loved some of the characters minus Bella and Edward), which was why only the soundtrack rocked.
I *used* to like Maroon 5. Their first album was cute, but their second album disappointed me.
I LOVE Goo Goo Dolls. Iris is one of my top 5 favourite songs.

Linkin Park has quite a few good songs, but then they have the ones that are just too emo for my tastes ("Bleed it out" for example). They're kind of hit and miss.
I agree about Goo Goo Dolls, though. "Iris" and "Slide" are my favorites from them.

You know, I'm generally not into emo, but I freakin' love 30 Seconds to Mars and especially that song. "R-Evolve" is another good one from them.

I KNOW, RIGHT??? It really depends on my mood. Right now, I have this yen for hauntingly chilling-good songs... Does that make sense? Y'know what I mean? (It's OK if you guys don't, lol... )

"Iris" is such a great song. Makes me kind of sad, though.
Weird one? "House at Pooh Corner" by Kenny Loggins. I've loved it since I was little, and it came on the stereo several nights in a row after I found out I was pregnant. It made me cry every time, and it also made me really certain I was having a boy (I was right, but it's a little silly to base a prediction off a song, I know). Gorgeous song.
Not sure who 30 Seconds to Mars is, sorry.

See this youtube video of The Kill. It's by 30 Second To Mars, and then tell me you don't love it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=qF1wZQzpeKAAnd of course, I fail at sarcasm yet again.
