If you haven't watched it, come back to this thread after you have. Spoilers ahead.
I actually really liked this one. I always liked Ghostfreak back in the original series and it really lived up to what I'd expect of him. It was interesting to see Vilgax in a different perspective too. I thought it was actually kind of sweet when he saved the little girl.
Thoughts?

I dunno. I liked it, but there was that part of me that was like "obligatory team up with the enemy...why does this feel so familiar...Oh, right. Because they've done it...first with Kevin in the original series, then in this series with him again, and Rhiney....". I did still like it, but Ben made himself quite a jerk towards the end there. And I thought Kevin not being able to be possessed would have been a bigger plot point.
Ghostfreak is a really great villain. Kind of wish he would have escaped Ben and taken off. His plot to infect the universe is similar to the High Breed, but hey, at least he doesn't want to blow everyone up in some mass forced suicide pact....
Also, the 'cute' alien at the beginning grossed me out, even before they pulled him out from underground. But judging by the trailers for Alien Swarm, the crew got to see these episodes (I mean, there's been commercials with Gwen running around in her season 3 outfit), so how are they planning to explain that Kevin's human again? Couldn't be I.D. mask, as he's seen absorbing things. I thought that would mean tonight's episode would have him turn back, but no go so far...
The part of Gwen's fight with Vilgax where she had the upperhand (for a good...4 seconds), was awesome.
....Is it weird that I think the kids on Vilgaxia are far cuter than the little girl from the Red vs Blue planet in "Simple"? ....New theory: The alien baby in the Men In Black movie that Agent K helps deliver must have been Vilgaxian.

Yeah, the Vilgaxian girl was cuter. Maybe co's she was actually grateful for being saved in the first place. Great episode, just that Ben's attitude could have been a little more..well...serious. I mean, you'd think possession by Ghostfreak would be a REALLY BAD thing.... They could've done more with that, like a fanfiction I read some time ago (although that one's a little too extreme....)

I agree. With all the issues he had with Ghostfreak in the past, I think his reaction would have been more than it was.

Alien Swarm, without getting too spoilery here. is going to be a glimpse at the future. It's going to be tough to fit into the timeline because of it. It's not necessarily a 'what if' film though. In fact, it's already been confirmed that the events of such are going to be acknowledged in the series. Point #1: (And this can be inferred from the trailers...) We haven't seen Ben/Gwen's 16th birthday yet. Alien Swarm happens after that.

All in all, though, this was a really good episode, especially by comparison. (Yes, I'm still mad at the episode "Simple"....shush, I'll be petty if I want to ^_-). I do wonder how Vilgax got to be the way he is. I'd always thought he just put himself first, but he genuinely cared about his people. I'd like backstory on him (read a good one by saikka on the Bevin LJ, if anyone's interested, but I'd like a true canon version as well)
