These are kind of fun things to do...I'll try to find a well done example later. Anyways, the point is to take your pairing and write a paper on it. Included has to be why it works (based on the characters' attitudes), evidence (from episodes if you have it), why it doesn't work, and links to good fanfiction and fanart. I may do one later to show an example, but it's just a fun thing to do. usually only one person does a pairing. I'll try to write one later today to show how it goes (I'll probably be doing Kevin/Gwen, since it is my favorite)

Rules:

Rules (in no particular order):
1) No bashing other ships.
2) Use what you're given in canon. No "if [event] happens, [ship] can happen".
3) Be organized in your discussion. No rambling.
4) No author's notes.
5) Good spelling/grammar a must.
6) Make sure it's not just a "this is why I like [ship]" essay. Write about the ship from all angles, not about why you like it.
7) Write why your ship actually works within the bounds of established canon.
8) Your manifesto should have a b****in' title. Because.
9) Try to include direct quotes and pictures in your manifesto.
10) A nice bonus would be fic recommendations that you think best illustrate your manifesto. (Song lyrics are cute, too.) Say why you chose those fics.

a Kevin/Gwen manifesto


Introduction
This manifesto is to explore the relationship between Gwendolyn "Gwen" Tennyson and Kevin "Kevin 11" Levin. Within the world of Ben 10: Alien Force, many different pairings have become popular. This particular ship seems to rise and fall in popularity, gaining momentum at times, and sometimes getting shut down for a while when another pairing comes to the foreground in popularity.

Why It Doesn't Work
Gwen is a very proper young girl, and she obviously disapproves of some of Kevin's methods and ideals. And the fact that he's still stealing after all this time.

Kevin, for his part, is the couple's main obstacle. He's already said it's a guy's job to do the asking out (All That Glitters), and he still hasn't made his move, even though Gwen has already admitted to him that she likes him (again, All That Glitters).

What others may argue is that Ben himself could be standing in the couple's way. While he doesn't seem to mind them liking one another, even sort of pushing them together at times (the end of All That Glitters), he and Kevin have become pretty close friends since Alien Force began. Kevin may be reluctant to step on his first real friendship, possibly fearing that Ben may not like Kevin being with his cousin. Kevin was, of course, a bad guy at first, and Ben has been quick to remind him of this (Kevin's Big Score).

Why It Does Work[/u]

Right from the hour long series premiere (Ben 10 Returns) of Alien Force, it seemed the writers wanted us to see something between Gwen and Kevin. Perhaps it was because she was the only one not yelling at him or threatening him, but he's quick to jump to her defense - whether against a Highbreed or against her own cousin.

In season one, we're handed several hints. There's the back-and-forth flirting, the arguments. And of course, right from episode five, Gwen voices that she likes Kevin, telling Kevin himself. He doesn't respond how she might have wished (he becomes a bit stand-offish until she goes off with Mike), but he does get jealous when she agrees to go out with Mike Morningstar.

Season two has them headed together to a dance (Save the Last Dance), a typical sort of date for teenagers. While they never do make it to the dance, they dance together at the end, out in the desert. Season two has a more respect built between the two, and both are eager to protect one another.

Conclusion[/u]

There is no guarantee this couple will end up together. However, the looks they share, the way either will do just about anything to keep the other safe makes it a high likelihood. It's clear that Kevin's going to need something or someone to make sure he stays on the right path. And Gwen's more than capable of it.
